ICDL (International Computer Driving License)

The ICDL (International Computer Driving License) is an entry-level computer certification designed to demonstrate a user competence in all-round computer use within a typical office-like environment.

To achieve an ICDL certificate, candidates must pass seven exams, an exam per ICDL module.


ICDL Modules

The subject matter for each of the ICDL Modules:

  1. Module 1 (M1) Concept of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) (basic literacy questions)
  2. Module 2 (M2) Using the Computer and Managing Files (i.e. Operating System)
  3. Module 3 (M3) Word Processing (i.e. Microsoft Word)
  4. Module 4 (M4) Spreadsheets (i.e. Microsoft Excel)
  5. Module 5 (M5) Using Databases (i.e. Microsoft Access)
  6. Module 6 (M6) Presentation (i.e. Microsoft PowerPoint)
  7. Module 7 (M7) Web Browsing and Communication (using programs like Outlook and IE)


Notes

1.       A candidate has 45 minutes to complete each of the seven ICDL exams.

2.       No books or other help may be used during the tests.

3.       The passing mark for each exam is 75%.

4.       The seven tests may be taken in any sequence.
